Kazakhstan. A logistics corridor for the supply of grain to Southeast Asia through China has been opened

On February 5, a train with 720 tons of wheat arrived from Kazakhstan at the base of the Chinese-Kazakh logistics center in the port of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province (East China). Then, after reloading, the wheat will be sent to Vietnam by sea.

Thus, for the first time, Kazakh-produced wheat will enter the market of Southeast Asia through China, which marks the official opening of a transit corridor for the export of food grains from Kazakhstan through China, UkrAgroConsult informs.

It is noted that, according to experts, it takes 30 days to transport wheat from Australia to Southeast Asia, and about 20 days from Kazakhstan via China. Along with this, the cost of a ton of wheat produced in Kazakhstan is $45 lower than the cost of Australian wheat of the same quality. Transit transportation through China will contribute to a significant increase in the competitiveness of Kazakh wheat.

In 2017, Kazakhstan plans to export about 500 thousand tons of wheat to Southeast Asia through China.
