In this marketing year, Kazakhstan exports 9 million tons of grain
The volume of grain exports in the 2016-2017 marketing year will be about 9 million tons. This was announced by the director of the department for the production and processing of crop products of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Kadzhibekova in response to a request from a Kazinform correspondent.
“According to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC “NC”?aza? stan temir zholy", from the beginning of the current marketing year (from July 1, 2016) as of January 10, 2017, 4466.2 thousand tons of grain were shipped for export, taking into account flour, including grain - 2807.8 thousand tons, flour - 1160.9 thousand tons. In the current marketing year, the total volume of grain exports, taking into account flour in grain equivalent, is projected at the level of 9 million tons," A. Kadzhibekova said in a letter.
It is also noted that the main export grain crop in Kazakhstan is wheat, whose share in total exports is about 90%. In addition, barley, corn, rice, oats, buckwheat and millet are also exported. According to statistics for 2011-2015, the share of wheat in total grain exports averaged 89%, barley - 9.4%, rice - 1.1%, corn - 0.3%, other grains - 0.2% .
“The traditional importers of Kazakh grain are the countries of Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan), as well as Afghanistan, Iran, Azerbaijan. In addition, certain volumes of Kazakh grain and products of its processing are supplied to the Chinese market, the markets of the EU countries, North Africa and the Middle East. In January-November 2016, 1563.9 thousand tons of grain were exported to Uzbekistan, which is 337.8 thousand tons more than the corresponding period in 2015, Tajikistan - 918.9 thousand tons (147.4 thousand tons more), Iran - 717.9 thousand tons (129.4 thousand tons more), Afghanistan - 246.1 thousand tons (169.7 thousand tons more), Russia - 485.1 thousand tons (200 more, 5 thousand tons), China - 268.1 thousand tons (161.2 thousand tons more), Kyrgyzstan - 218.1 thousand tons (49.3 thousand tons less). It is also noted that Kazakh wheat is more competitive in quality in the European market than Russian and Ukrainian. At the same time, due to high transportation costs, the competitiveness of Kazakh wheat when exported to the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin and the Baltic Sea is declining.
According to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in January-November 2016, 4765.8 thousand tons of grain were exported at a price of 153.5 US dollars per 1 ton.
