Winter in Western Siberia will be less snowy and colder than last

According to weather forecasters, in December and January the temperature will be below the climatic norm.

Winter on the territory of the regions of Western Siberia will be little snowy and at the same time it will become colder than the last one. This was announced by the head of the Novosibirsk hydrometeorological center Anna Lapchik.

“In general, for 6 months of the cold half of the year, the temperature is expected to be lower than in the past cold season of 2014-2015. However, during the cold period, the probabilistic forecast will be adjusted,” she said during the Grain Round Table in Novosibirsk.

Lapchik clarified that in December 2015 the temperature in the regions of Western Siberia is expected to be 1-2 degrees below the climatic norm, i.e. minus 15-17 degrees. The cold center will be located in the south of Western Siberia - in the Altai Territory and the Altai Republic. In January, the temperature will also be below the norm by 1-1.5 degrees and will be about minus 20 degrees.

At the same time, the amount of precipitation will be less than the norm and will return to normal only in February. At the same time, the air temperature will return to the climatic norm. In March, experts expect, the temperature will be even one degree above the norm.

According to weather forecasters, the coldest winter in Western Siberia was observed in 1968-1969, when the average temperature dropped below 23 degrees below zero.
